KARACHI: Pakistan team continued their impressive form in the Asian Junior Squash Championship as Under-13 players Ahmed Rayyan Khalil and Noman Khan made it to the semi-finals of the event on Friday.
Rayyan defeated India’s Aryaman Singh 3-1 in the first quarter-final and secured his place in the next round.
The Pakistani lost the first game but then showed great resilience and won three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Noman dominated Malaysia’s Yalvanthan Ravi Kumar and won the game 3-0 to cement his place in the semi-finals.
In U15, Ibrahim Zeb defeated India’s Aryan Devdan. In U17, Abdullah Nawaz already made it to the semi-finals.
Earlier, Anas Ali Shah defeated Malaysia’s Tho Wai Yan 3-1 in the hard-fought game that lasted for 41 minutes in U19 category.
In the U17 competition, Nawaz took 28 minutes to knock out India’s Gurveer Singh 3-0 in the first round while Nadeem defeated Leong Keng 3-0 as well in just 18 minutes.
In the U15 competition, Ibrahim outclassed Han Lechuan of China 3-0 in just 15 minutes to confirm his berth in the round of 16.
In the U13 category, Rayyan Khalil and Nauman completed their victories against Jaden Loo Wu Ze of Malaysia and Cheng August Haun-Chen easily. Both the U13 players won their games in 15 minutes.
