Durban Qalandars (DQ) won the Zim Afro T10 league after a stunning victory over Johannesburg Buffalos (JB) by eight wickets in Harare, on Saturday.
Qalandars achieved this remarkable victory after an all-round performance by their batters as they were chasing the target of 128 runs in 10 overs.
Afghanistan’s hard-hitter Hazratullah Zazai was the top-scorer of his team by scoring 43 off 22 balls with one four and four sixes.
Andre Fletcher contributed to the chase by scoring 29 off just 11 deliveries with five boundaries.
Pakistan’s explosive batter Asif Ali scored 21 off just nine deliveries scoring back-to-back sixes against Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarbani as the bowler was smashed for 40 runs in two overs.
Pakistani pacer Usman Shanwari was the only one who bowled up to some perfection as he only conceded 15 runs in two overs and also took two important wickets of Fletcher and Tim Seifert.
While batting first, JB could not play the way they did yesterday. Even though Pakistan’s Mohammad Hafeez scored 32 off just 13 balls with six boundaries at a strike rate of 246.15 but he was removed by George Linde.
Tom Banton also played an important inning scoring 37 off 17 but that was just it.
Meanwhile, Yousuf Pathan, who scored 80 off just 26 balls on Friday (July 28) against the same opposition, could only score a mere 25 runs off 14 balls.
Buffaloes managed to score 127 runs in 10 overs which was easily chased by Qalandars.
