Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz will face off in the Wimbledon 2023 final in London on Sunday.

Alcaraz will be looking for his first Wimbledon title win while Djokovic will do everything to defend his title.

In the first semi-final, Djokovic defeated Jannik Sinner 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(4) to reach his ninth Wimbledon final.

The Serbian won the first two sets without any trouble however, in the third set, Sinner came close to winning but Djokovic’s unparalleled mentality helped him overcome the Italian.

With the win, the Serb also became the first player in tennis history to reach 35 Grand Slam singles finals.

Djokovic is yet to lose a completed match at Wimbledon since 2016 and he has not been beaten at the Centre Court since 2013.

Despite being 14 years older than his opponent, Djokovic — not for once, looked like he is tired or is losing the game.

"In the semi-finals, it was always going to be a very close and very tense match," said Djokovic. "That was the case and the scoreline doesn't give the reality of what was happening on the court. It was super close.

"Jannik has proven why he is one of the leaders of the next generation and one of the best players in the world.

"I tried not to look at age as a hindrance or a factor of the outcome. I guess 36 is the new 26."

Despite a very complete performance by Djokovic, the Serb silencing the Wimbledon crowd became the highlight of the day.

Meanwhile, in the second semi-final, Alcaraz stunned Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 reaching his first-ever Wimbledon final.

The Spaniard comfortably moved past the no.3 seed and is now all set to face the mentality monster Djokovic in the final.

“What I can say is I’m going to enjoy this amazing moment for me. It’s time to keep dreaming,” Alcaraz on facing Djokovic in the final.

“Since I started playing tennis, I dreamed to play the final, but it’s even more special playing against Novak. But it’s a final, no time to be afraid. No time to be tired. I will go for it. Let’s see what happens."

An unmissable final between the best players in the world awaits on Sunday. It has to be seen if Alcaraz has what it takes to stop Djokovic from winning his fifth consecutive final.

The two powerhouses last faced one another in the semi-final of the French Open 2023 where the Spaniard was handed a 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 defeat by the Serb.

Meanwhile, in the women’s singles final, Marketa Vondrousova and Ons Jabeur are all set to take on each other on Saturday (July 15).

Both players will be looking to win their first-ever Wimbledon title. Jabeur lost to defending champion Elena Rybinka in the 2022 final.
