T10 League now takes centre stage in Sri Lanka

TTen Sports Management and TTen Global Sports, in collaboration with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have launched T10 League in the Island country. 

SLC confirmed that a 10-over format franchise league will be held for the first time in their country later this year. Not only men's but women's teams will also feature in this unique format of the game. 

According to the details, men's event will feature six teams whereas women's event will have four teams. The event is scheduled to take place from December 12 to 23 at different venues in Sri Lanka. 

"I am extremely confident that this tournament will become a success story and help Sri Lanka Cricket keep abreast with the evolving trends of the game," said Shammi Silva, SLC's president. 

"We are thrilled to bring the exciting brand of T10 cricket to Sri Lanka, and we thank SLC for their support. This league is much more significant as it is licensed by a full popular member like SLC “ said Shaji ul Mulk, Chairman of TTen Global Sports. 

T10 League was first initiated in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The inaugural edition took place in 2017 in Sharjah. Later on, the league moved to Abu Dhabi for the next seasons. 

This year, T10 league management expanded the canvas of this shortest format and took it to Zimbabwe. Zim Afro T10 League will start on July 20 in Harare. Pakistan Super League (PSL)'s two-time champion franchise, Lahore Qalandars, also owns a team in the league named Durban Qalandars.
