Day three of the third Ashes has ended with England batting at 27-0 at stumps in Leeds.

Zak Crawley (9) and Ben Duckett (18) will resume batting for England on day four.

England need 224 runs to win the Test.

Earlier on day three — which was heavily interrupted by rain — Australia were all-out for 224 in their second innings setting a target of 251 runs for the hosts.

The Aussies, who resumed their batting at 116-4 on day three, could not stand against the English bowlers as well as the playing conditions for too long.

Taking advantage of the weather and the rain, the English bowlers did not take long before sending the entire Australian batting line-up back to the pavilion.

However, Australia’s Travis Head was the exception as he managed to score 77 off 112 deliveries with 10 boundaries and made sure that his team gets to a decent total in the given conditions.

Earlier in England’s first inning, Australian skipper Pat Cummins did not let English batters stand on the crease for long as he took six wickets, removing key players like Ben Duckett, Harry Brook, and Joe Root, who lost his wicket to the Australian for the 10th time in Test cricket.

However, in all the chaos, English skipper Ben Stokes — who single-handedly carried the English team in the second Test to an almost-victory while chasing as he scored 155 runs — once again stood for his team and saved the day for England after scoring 80 off 108 balls with 11 boundaries.

Stokes stayed till the very end and batted with tailenders for the major part of his batting and managed to drag his team to a decent total of 237.
