QUETTA: Higher Education Commission (HEC) upset Pakistan Army in the first match of the women's basketball event during the ongoing 34th National Games here today.

HEC players were on song after making comeback in the second half. Army took an early lead but HEC found their players in great rhythm to set the tone for their team as they beat the opponents by 47-35.

The winning side topped the group in four-team event. The other participating teams in the event are WAPDA and Balochistan.

It must be noted here that HEC was banned from the event during last six years. Their vitory against Army registered their arrival on a higher note.

HEC’s top-performer Hamda told GeoSuper.tv that the victory was too emotional for them.

“It feels like a dream come true moment for us,” she said. “We were banned from the event for last six year. So, this comeback victory was a huge bonus for us,” she added.

Hamda, who belongs to Lahore, wants to lead HEC to winning the title. “People underestimated us but we showed our dominance today. Now, we want to win the title tomorrow,” she concluded.

HEC will now face WAPDA tomorrow which will decide the champions of women’s bastketball event. Top team on the pointstable will win the event.
