Former Test cricketer Shahid Khan Afridi expressed sadness over the demise of Karachi's famous cricket organiser Ameer Akram Khan.
Afridi, who played most of his cricket in the metropolis, took to twitter to mourn the loss.
"Extremely saddened to hear about the loss of Ameer Akram Khan. He exemplifies a true hero who served the community of cricket in his own capacity; I have grown up being inspired by him. My prayers & wishes are with his son Ahmed Iqbal Khan for taking his father's mission forward," he wrote.
Ameer was well-known among Karachi's cricket fraternity. The departed soul served cricket in the city and remained closer to star cricketers including Afridi. He organised big cricket tournaments in Karachi.
Former flamboyant all-rounder Afridi, under the umbrella of his welfare organisation, has been helping people related to the sports field. He has extended financial and moral support to cricket organisers, cricketers, and also sports journalists.
Moreover, the star cricketer helped needy people in emergency situations across the country. His welfare organisation helped people in COVID-19 crisis and recent floods.
'Babar has not yet proved himself as a match-winner'
Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi has said that the current captain of the national team and Peshawar Zalmi Babar Azam has not yet proved himself as a match-winner.
Afridi, who recently served as the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) interim chief selector, heaped massive praise on Babar, calling him the number one player in the world but opined that he is yet to put on some match-winning performances.
"No doubt, Babar is the number one player in the world, and he is the pride of the Pakistan cricket team. However, one thing that stops him from being named along with the likes of AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli is finishing [games]. Babar has not yet proved himself as a match-winner," said Afrid in an interview with a local channel.
It is worth mentioning here that Babar is the number one ODI batter in the world, while in T20Is, he is ranked third. Meanwhile, in Tests, he is placed third.
