Lahore Qalandars' young pacer Zaman Khan has said he aims to take Peshawar Zalmi's captain Babar Azam's wicket during their upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) clash on Sunday.
In an interview with Geo News, Zaman said: "My goal is to take Babar Azam's wicket. Unfortunately, last year I dropped the catch myself, but this time, I am hopeful that I will be able to get him out."
The pacer labelled Mohammad Haris as a "good batter" and said that he would bowl to him at different variations.
Asked about the impact of having Pakistan's top bowlers, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf beside him, he said: "Shaheen and Haris are both international players and I get the opportunity to learn from them."
Zaman delivered a magnificent last over against Multan in the PSL 8 opener as he defended 15 runs in six balls against the likes of Khushdil Shah and veteran West Indian batter and T20 specialist Kieron Pollard. The pacer's heroics helped his side beat Multan by one run.
The right-arm pacer replicated the over which he bowled against two-time champions Islamabad United in the seventh edition of the PSL.
When asked about his skill to bowl the fate-deciding over, Zaman said: "Whenever our red-ball season ends, we practise white-ball bowling, especially in the death overs, where we learn to bowl yorkers and slower ones. This helps in the match and the skipper enjoys it and gives me confidence."
As per the initial schedule, Lahore Qalandars will take on Peshawar Zalmi in their fourth match of the PSL 8 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Sunday, February 26.
It is worth mentioning here that the Qalandars have won two out of the three matches played and are currently placed third on the league table.
The winner of PSL 8 will not only lift the Supernova Trophy but will also collect a cheque of Rs120m, while the runners-up will receive a cheque of Rs48m.
Lahore Qalandars will attempt to become the first side to win back-to-back titles; meanwhile Islamabad United will aim to become the most successful side by lifting the trophy thrice.
