Former Pakistan cricketer Azhar Mahmood has revealed that India's Mohammad Shami texted him when he was having issues with his seam position.
Due to his British citizenship, Mahmood played in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and he has now disclosed that Shami had approached him regarding a problem with his "seam position."
"I've to pass on my experience with everyone. I don't really care; sports have no boundaries. I've played in IPL for the Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders. I've worked with Shami. I remember when he was having an issue with his seam position, and he sent me a text message," Mahmood told Hindustan Times on the sidelines of the ongoing International League T20 (ILT20).
The former pacer said he doesn't mind working with anyone and wants to give back to the game.
"I keep in touch with these guys. Whenever I see them [Shami, Bhuvneshwar], they come and ask me about their issues. I don't mind working with anyone... it doesn't matter if they are an Indian, Pakistani, or even an Englishman. I'm a coach. Cricket has given me a lot and it's my time to give back to the game," he added.
The former Pakistani bowling all-rounder is currently serving as the bowling coach for the ILT20 team Desert Vipers, which qualified for the league final with its win over Gujarat Giants on Wednesday.
It is worth mentioning here that due to political tensions between Pakistan and India, Pakistani players are not allowed to take part in the IPL, while Indian players do not play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Players from Pakistan only participated in the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008.
Mahmood, along with 11 other national cricketers, have played in the IPL.
Apart from Mahmood, Shoaib Akhtar, Umar Gul, Salman Butt, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Asif, Sohail Tanvir, Kamran Akmal, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, and Shahid Afridi took part in the Indian league.
