Pakistan and Peshawar Zalmi skipper Babar Azam is gearing up for the upcoming eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

In the build-up to PSL 8, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), in collaboration with the Balochistan government, is set to host an exhibition match at Quetta's Bugti Stadium, which will be played between the hosts Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi on February 5.

Babar started intense training to refresh himself for PSL.

The batter took to Twitter and posted a video practising. The video was accompanied by a caption that read: "Gearing up for PSL."

It is worth mentioning here that Babar bagged the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the ICC Men's Cricketer of the Year on Thursday.

He scored 2598 runs in 44 matches at an average of 54.12 with eight centuries and 15 half-centuries in 2022.

Babar was also included in the ICC Test Team of the Year for 2022 on Tuesday, while he was named captain of the ICC ODI Team of the Year for 2022.

Earlier, Babar started training at the National High Performance Center in Lahore on Tuesday. This is the first time he has been practising after the New Zealand series.

In a three-hour training session, the batter practised batting with NHPC coaches and individual trainers.

Babar was appointed skipper of the Yellow Storm after joining the 2017 champions from Karachi Kings.

The PSL 8 will kick off on February 13 when defending champions Lahore Qalandars take on 2021 champions Multan Sultans in the opening clash at the Multan Cricket Stadium after a vibrant opening ceremony.
