Pakistan beat Rwanda in U19 Women’s T20 World Cup

Opener Eyman Fatima scored fifty for the winning side

Pakistan were set a target of 107 runs — PCB

Pakistan defeated Rwanda by eight wickets in their opening match of the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Potchefstroom, South Africa, on Sunday.

Chasing a target of 107 runs, the Green Shirts reached home in 17.5 overs for the loss of two wickets.

Opener Eyman Fatima was the star of the show as she scored a match-winning fifty. The right-hander remained unbeaten on 65 runs in 60 balls with the help of 11 fours.

Syeda Aroob Shah also chipped in with 20 runs in 21 balls. 

Eyman and Aroob added 72 unbeaten runs for the third wicket to help Pakistan get over the line. 

Gisele Ishimwe and Henriette Ishimwe bagged one wicket each for Rwanda. 

Earlier, after winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Rwanda posted 106-8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Skipper Gisele Ishimwe top-scored with 40 runs in 49 balls, with the help of four boundaries.

Meanwhile, Cynthia Tuyizere and Henriette Ishimwe scored 20 and 14 runs respectively.

Areesha Noor was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan after bagging figures of 2-19 in four overs.

Anosha Nasir, Zamina Tahir and captain Syeda Aroob Shah claimed one wicket each.
