LAHORE: West Indies will play a practice match ahead of their two-match away Test series against Pakistan, sources told Geo News on Sunday.
According to the details, West Indies will embark on their Test tour to Pakistan with a three-day practice against Pakistan Shaheens, which is likely to be played in Rawalpindi.
Sources further revealed that West Indies are expected to arrive in Islamabad on January 6, and after competing in the practice match, will depart for Multan.
As per the original schedule, Karachi was due to host the opening Test but due to the ongoing renovation process at the National Stadium, it is being considered to be shifted to Multan, which will also host the second red-ball fixture.
The two-match series will be played from January 16 to 28.
As a result, the tri-nation series, originally scheduled to be played in Multan, is now likely to be held in Karachi and Lahore instead.
For the unversed, Pakistan will host New Zealand and South Africa for an ODI tri-series just days before the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, slated to run from February 19 to March 9.
The series is scheduled to be played in Multan from February 8 to 14, providing the three teams an ample opportunity to fine-tune their preparations for the eight-team tournament.
