South Africa announced their T20 World Cup 2024 squad on Tuesday with Aiden Markram leading the Proteas.
Markram has been named captain for the first time in an ICC event after taking charge as T20I skipper.
The prominent inclusions are pacer Anrich Nortje and wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock, who were recently not given a central contract by Cricket South Africa.
Nortje has been out of action in international cricket since September 2023 after suffering from a back injury, Meanwhile, De Kock brought the curtain down in ODIs after the 2023 Cricket World Cup, having already stepped away from Test cricket in 2022.
After impressing in the SA20 tournament, Ryan Rickelton and Ottniel Baartman have been named as the uncapped T20I players in the squad.

Travelling reserves: Nandre Burger and Lungi Ngidi.
South Africa are in Group D of the T20 World Cup 2024 alongside Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands and Nepal.
South Africa will kick start their T20 World Cup campaign on June 3 against Sri Lanka in New York.
It is worth mentioning that 20 qualifying teams are divided into four groups of five, from which the top two teams of every group will make their way to the Super 8 round. In that stage, qualifying teams will once again be divided into two groups of four, from which the top two teams will make their way to the semi-final and then the winners will play the final on June 29.
