New Zealand Cricket (NZC) became the first side on Monday to announce the 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup 2024.

Under the leadership of Kane Williamson, the Kiwis has assembled a strong core which includes Finn Allen, Trent Boult, Devon Conway, Daryl Mitchell, and others.

The announcement of the squad was eagerly awaited by the cricketing community, but it was the method of its revelation that truly captured attention across cricket and social media platforms.

In a video shared on social media, the NZC revealed that they had sent two youngsters to conduct the press conference and disclose the squad.

Angus, a boy, and Matilda, a girl, were the names of the children who listed all the players selected for the T20 World Cup.

"I'd like to congratulate everyone named today. It's a special time representing your country at a world tournament," New Zealand coach Gary Stead said on squad announcement.

"We expect the venues in the West Indies to offer quite varied conditions and feel we've selected a squad with the scope to adapt to those conditions."

"Matt has worked exceptionally hard on his skills across the phases of a T20 game to come back into selection consideration," Stead added.

Rachin Ravindra, who has impressed everyone with his performances quite early into his international career, will feature for the Kiwis in a T20 World Cup for the first time ever.

"Rachin has made every post a winner in the past 12 months and it was exciting to see him continue that trajectory over the summer in the T20 format against Australia."

Adam Milne will be out of action following ankle surgery, and Kyle Jamieson was also unavailable for selection as he recovers from back injury.

Gary Stead will lead the coaching staff while Luke Ronchi and Jacob Oram will be batting and bowling coach, respectively, while James Foster will act as assistant coach for New Zealand team with a focus on fielding.
