Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel dropped a massive hint at a potential move to FC Barcelona, who are going to start a search for a new manager once Xavi Hernandez at the end of the season.
Tuchel, who replaced Julian Nagelsmann during the previous season, led Bayern to a Bundesliga win but things aren’t going too well for the German this season.
Two points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen, with apparent dressing room problems and crashing out of DFB-Pokal in November, there is a high chance that Bayern Munich may go trophyless this season and that won’t be good news for Tuchel, who is already under strict scrutiny by the Bayern board.
After Bayern’s 3-2 win against Augsburg during the weekend, Tuchel talked to the press where he stated that joining a new club would be appealing while mentioning the Spanish league, La Liga.
"Moving abroad would appeal to me again. Spain has an extraordinary league. From my perspective, and based on my experience working with Spaniards, they are characterized by a tremendous amount of self-confidence," said Tuchel.
Tuchel has already managed big clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, and Chelsea, he has yet to coach a Spanish team and he might have a club to join in the summer.
Barcelona’s head coach Xavi Hernandez confirmed on the weekend that he will leave the club at the end of the season.
Tuchel, a Champions League winner, is one of the favourites to replace the former midfielder and his recent statement about finding the Spanish league extra-ordinary, has just fueled the rumours more.
Bayern will play Leverkusen in a potential title decider on February 10 away from home and a loss there would increase the chances of losing the league title for the first time in 12 years.
