Jadon Sancho joined Borussia Dortmund on a six-month loan deal from Manchester United where he will stay with the club till the end of the current season, confirmed the club on Thursday.
Sancho, 23, who fell out of favour with Man Utd’s boss Erik Ten Hag, has returned to the club where his journey to fame started which earned him a €100m move to the Manchester club.
“BVB has signed Jadon #Sancho on loan until the end of the season. The Englishman, currently in the employ of @ManUtd, signed a loan contract this Thursday that runs until June 30, 2024,” announced BvB on their X, formerly Twitter, account.
"When I walked into the changing room today, it felt a bit like coming home. I know the club inside and out, was always very close to the fans here, and contact with the bosses never stopped," Sancho said upon his return.
"I can't wait to see my teammates again, be out on the pitch and play football with a smile, assist goals, score goals, and help the team qualify for the Champions League."
Sancho enjoyed great success at Dortmund where the forward played 137 matches, netting 50 goals and providing 64 assists which earlier him a move to the Manchester club for a record €100m fee.
After joining Man United in 2021, Sancho went on to play 82 games where he managed to bag 12 goals and six assists but he fell out of favour with head coach Erik Ten Hag and has been sidelined since then.
After Sancho was left out of the match against Arsenal on September 3 which United lost 3-1, Ten Hag was asked the reason for the English international's exclusion.
Ten Hag explained that the decision was taken following the 23-year-old's poor performances during training sessions.
However, the Dutchman's comments were not ignored or taken lightly by Sancho who decided to speak up in order to defend himself.
