Marnus Labuschagne went for scans - Cricket Australia

In a gripping battle at the Perth Test, Pakistan's pace attack made a late impact on day three, causing concerns for Australia.

Batter Marnus Labuschagne took a nasty blow to his little finger as a Khurram Shahzad delivery sharply rose towards him off a length. He went for scans on Saturday evening.

As per Cricket Australia's statement, An x-ray taken last night did not demonstrate any visible fracture. Marnus was able to bat unhindered in the nets this morning.

Labuschagne, a consistent presence with 39 consecutive Test appearances since the 2019 Ashes, would be a notable absence if ruled out.

"He was with the doc and physio for the last hour just chatting through it and doing a few tests on the finger...dare say he might be pretty sore," Australia quick Josh Hazlewood had told reporters after day three.

It must be noted that Australia declared their second innings at 233-5 Sunday in the first Test against Pakistan in Perth, setting the visitors 450 to win.

The hosts resumed day four on 84-2, with the declaration coming soon after lunch when opener Usman Khawaja was out for 90.

Mitchell Marsh was unbeaten on 63 when skipper Pat Cummins made the call with Khurram Shahzad the best of the Pakistan bowlers with 3-45.

At the start of the day, Khawaja was on 34 and Steve Smith on 43 after Australia dismissed Pakistan for 271, just before tea on Saturday, considerably below Australia's initial innings total of 487.

Remember, Pakistan have failed to win a Test in Australia since 1995.
