The new season will begin in December

Haris Rauf has been retained by Melbourne Stars — BBL

Three Pakistani players have secured contracts for the upcoming 13th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) which will begin in December 2023.

Pacer Haris Rauf, all-rounder Usama Mir and death-over specialist Zaman Khan are all set to showcase their immense talent on the international stage.

Haris, who previously represented Melbourne Stars for three consecutive seasons, has been retained by the same franchise after he was selected in the drafts.

The reason for his selection was because of his exceptional record of 30 wickets at an average of 16.40 in 18 matches.

Meanwhile, Usama Mir is set to have his first BBL experience and he will join Rauf at the Melbourne Stars where he will look forward to becoming a fan favourite just like Haris did.

Usama will be coming into the BBL with some memorable performances with the ball as well as the bat in the recent Vitality Blast and The Hundred. He will provide Melbourne with the much-needed depth in the squad.

Lastly, Zaman Khan who emerged as the death-over specialist in recent years, was roped in by Sydney Thunder.

He recently played for Toronto Nationals in Global T20 Canada and Manchester Originals in The Hundred.

The presence of Pakistani players in a league as big as BBL is important as it will help them get much-needed international exposure. Especially players like Zaman and Usama, who don't get a chance to play with the national team very often.

Fans are sure to be excited to see their favourite cricketers on the iconic Australian grounds like the Melbourne and Brisbane Cricket Stadium, Adelaide Oval and many more.
