Day two of the fifth Ashes Test has concluded with the Australian team all out for 295 runs in London on Friday.

The Aussies lead by 12 runs after dismissing England for 283 in the first innings.

English batters will start their final innings on day three.

Day two was full of events. Australia resumed their innings at 61-1 at the start of day two.

Marnus Labuschagne played an interesting knock, scoring just nine off 82 balls and did his best to frustrate the English bowlers with his impeccable defense but he was stunned by Joe Root’s one-handed stunning catch from the first slip on Mark Wood’s pacey and bouncy ball.

However, just before Labuschagne’s wicket, English bowler Stuart Broad did something that amazed the world. The pacer played mind games with the Australian. First by swapping the bails on the wicket, then he high-fived Khawaja on the non-striker’s end and then hugged his teammates, creating a strange atmosphere for the batter.

After Marnus, Khawaja — just three runs away from half-century — lost his wicket as well as he was trapped by Braod for a LWB.

The wickets kept falling for the Aussies but it was Steve Smith, who stood on the crease and played valiantly by scoring 71 runs which helped his team.

Broad became the third-highest wicket-taker in the Ashes with his 150th Test wicket against Australia after he removed Travis Head for just four runs.

Australia got a much-needed breakthrough at the end by Pat Cummins — who was removed by Joe Root — and Todd Morphy as the two batters scored 36 and 34 runs respectively, helping their team get to a decent total.

Meanwhile, on day one, Mitchell Starc caused all kinds of problems for the English batters. He removed Harry Brook, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes and Broad.

Ben Duckett and Zack Crawley started very well and looked all set to develop a long partnership but then England met with the Aussies’ pace factory and ended up losing three important wickets of Duckett, Crawley and Root within four overs.

Moeen Ali and Brook developed a very crucial 111-run stand that helped England get back in the match but then the left-handed batter was removed by Murphy for 34 runs.

Just like Australia today, England too got a breakthrough on day one as Woakes and Mark Wood formed a 49-run partnership and helped their team get to a decent total.

The Aussies lead the series 2-1 and have already successfully retained the Ashes.
