Day one of the fifth Ashes Test ended with Australia batting at 61-1 in 25 overs on Thursday, in London.
The Aussies trail by 222 runs.
Usman Khawaja (26) and Marnus Labuschagne (2) will resume the batting for the visitors on day two.
Australia started their innings well but David Warner was soon removed by Chris Woakes for 24 runs in the 16th over.
Earlier today, Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first.
England had a very positive start as they did not lose a single wicket in the first 10 overs.
Ben Duckett and Zack Crawley looked all set to develop a long partnership but then England met with the Aussies’ pace factory and ended up losing three important wickets of Duckett, Crawley and Joe Root within four overs.
After Root was removed by Josh Hazlewood for just five runs, Moeen Ali came and gave some stability to the unstable English batting line with Harry Brook.
Both batters developed a very crucial 111-run stand that helped England get back in the match but then Moeen was removed by Todd Murphy for 34 runs.
Then came Stokes to bat but the English captain could not get a chance to stay at the crease for long as Starc’s unplayable delivery removed him just five runs.
After Moeen’s wicket, the English batters never got a chance to stay as they keep on losing wickets. However, after Brook’s removal for 85 runs, Woakes and Mark Wood formed a 49-run partnership and helped their team get to a decent total.
England were all-out for 283 runs in 54.4 overs.
Starc got the important wickets of Stokes, Brook, Woakes and Stuart Broad for 82 runs in 14.4 overs.
The Aussies lead the series 2-1 and have already successfully retained the Ashes.
