Former flamboyant all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi is hopeful for a franchise cricket league in Balochistan.
Speaking to the media during the signing ceremony of Sindh Premier League (SPL)'s franchise Benazirabad Lals, Afridi said Balochistan's talent also deserves a high-facility league in the near future.
"Just like Sindh, Balochistan also deserve a cricket league. Sindh Premier League is a wonderful opportunity for the youngsters of this province," said Afridi who is also the ambassador of SPL.
Afridi, who is known for his power-hitting, and people often call him Boom Boom for his ability, advised SPL's management to spread the league's vision to the whole year.
"This league shouldn't be restricted to just one month. A proper talent hunt programme should be set up to find the raw cricketers. Also, a cricket academy should be built to groom the youngsters," he added.
The cricketer-turned-philanthropist is hopeful to see more cricketers from Sindh representing Pakistan in the near future.
The all-rounder will be seen in action during the SPL which is set to start on September 19 this year in Karachi. He will play for Benazirabad Lals.
Veteran cricketer Shoaib Malik and former Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq will also participate in the tournament. Malik will captain Hyderabad Bahadurs whereas Misbah will be the head coach.
Three out of six SPL franchises have been sold out so far.
