The 27-year-old left-handed opener Imam-ul-Haq was dropped from fourth and fifth ODI in the five-match series against New Zealand.

Imam’s exclusion raised many questions in the cricketing world.

Imam was the Player of the Match in the third ODI after scoring 90 runs and helping his team win the series.

On Sunday [May 7], right before the start of the last ODI of the series, Imam wrote a cryptic post after he wasn't included in the playing XI for fifth and last ODI.

“Life is an unexpected journey so never expect anything from anyone. Be patient, Allah is watching!" he tweeted.

After the Tweet became popular on social media, the former Pakistani wicketkeeper Rashid Latif revealed why Imam was dropped from the last two ODIs.

According to Latif, Imam complained of hamstring pain before the fourth ODI.

"Initially, the team management decided to test Shan Masood while resting Fakhar in the fourth ODI. But just an hour before the match, Imam shared he was feeling hamstring pain and he couldn't feature in the match,

"Team management asked Fakhar, who was already told about resting, to play in the fourth ODI. He agreed but pulled himself out of the rotation policy and told the management that he will play the last ODI too regardless of his performance,

"Before the fifth ODI, Imam told team management that he wanted to play but due to commitment with Fakhar, team management refused to include him in the playing XI for the last ODI. Management sometimes have to keep their commitments intact," Latif disclosed the whole scenario.
