Former Test cricketer Rashid Latif suggested Babar Azam to leave captaincy if he is influenced from outside.
While talking on his YouTube channel, Latif said Babar should be given time as a captain.
"Babar will remain captain. However, my advice to Babar is to step down [from captaincy], if someone tries to influence him from outside," he stated.
Earlier, reports confirmed that the newly appointed national team director Mickey Arthur gave vote of confidence to Babar as captain. Arthur, who previously coached Pakistan from 2016 to 2019, wants Babar to continue as captain till ICC World Cup 2023.
Last month, Arthur came to Islamabad to sign his contract as national team director. He met PCB management committee chairman Najam Sethi, chief selector Haroon Rashid and captain of the national team.
During his meeting with Sethi, the former head coach, who believed in Azam as a Test player despite all the criticism during his previous stint with the Pakistan team, told the latter that there is no potential option to replace him as captain immediately.
He had said that Pakistan team has the capability to win the World Cup under the leadership of Azam.
