Indian Test squad - BCCI

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced 15-member squad for ICC Test Championship 2021-23 final against Australia.

Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India will face Australia in the championship final from June 7-11 at The Oval, London.

Young batter Shubman Gill, experienced batter Virat Kohli and Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara are also part of the squad.

Mohammad Shami will lead the pace attack which includes Mohammad Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat.

In March this year, New Zealand beat Sri Lanka in the first Test of two-match series after an exciting finish to help India qualify for the final.

Sri Lanka, who were in contention for WTC final qualification, had to win both Tests against New Zealand in order to qualify.

However, Kane Williamson's hundred in a rain-hit first Test of the series snatched Sri Lanka's chance of playing their maiden WTC final. Williamson scored 121 not-out to help the Kiwis beat the visitors by two wickets on the final day.

India will play ICC WTC final for the second time in a row. In 2021, they faced New Zealand in ICC WTC 2019-21 in Southampton. The Kiwis beat India by eight wickets to lift the inaugural ICC WTC title.
