Asia Cup 2023 is likely to be played in Pakistan this year with India playing their matches on a neutral venue.

According ESPNcricnfo, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are gradually moving towards a solution to save the Asian event this year.

India will play their matches on neutral venue. Also, Pakistan will face their arch-rivals on the same venue. The possibility of India and Pakistan playing three times remains. However, rest of the matches will likely be played in Pakistan.

Pakistan and India are placed in same group with a qualifying team. Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are in another group.

UAE, Oman, Sri Lanka and England are under consideration as a neutral venue for hosting India matches.

Reportedly, Asian Cricket Council (ACC) members are in favour of hosting tournament's one part outside Pakistan which will feature Indian team.

PCB representatives, under the leadership of Najam Sethi, met BCCI team comprised its secretary Jay Shah and Arun Dhumal, the IPL governing council chairman, for an informal discussion on the sidelines of ICC meeting in Dubai.

It must be noted here that the two boards failed to reach a resolution mid-March in Bahrain at the ACC meeting.
