Lahore Qalandars' Hussain Talat has said he wants to play as a batting all-rounder for Pakistan.
In an interview with Geo News, after helping Lahore Qalandars beat Multan Sultans in the opening match of the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Hussain said: "I was the player of the tournament in the Nepal Premier League, and I want to do the same in the PSL."
"I wish to make a comeback in the Pakistan team. I last played for the national side in 2021, after which, I was dropped. Two domestic seasons have gone very well for me. I bowled long spells in the first class cricket to improve my skills with the red ball. I want to play as a batting all-rounder for Pakistan."
Hussain joined Lahore Qalandars from Peshawar Zalmi for PSL 8.
"Qalandars started this season in the same way they ended the previous season. It's my first season with Lahore Qalandars, I'm enjoying it. In the first match, Fakhar Zaman batted well in difficult conditions. Fakhar's batting gave the middle-order batters a chance to attack. Looking at the bowling, we were confident that we could defend the total," he said about the one-run win over Multan Sultans on Monday.
The all-rounder was awarded an iPhone 14 after his magnificent fielding that led to destructive batter Kieron Pollard's run out.
"If performance is appreciated in any field, it gives good confidence," he said.
The defending champions are scheduled to take on Karachi Kings, who have lost their first two matches, at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi on February 19.
Talking about the much-anticipated clash, the left-handed batter said: "The match between Karachi and Lahore is always great as everyone is excited. With the team's current momentum and atmosphere, God willing, we will win this match too."
