The Panthers defeated the Dolphins by 50 runs in the third match of the Champions One-Day Cup at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, securing their first victory of the tournament.
Led by Shadab Khan, the Panthers successfully defended a target of 338, thanks to a brilliant spell by Muhammad Hasnain.
The Dolphins started their chase impressively, with Sahibzada Farhan and Muhammad Hurraira putting up a 68-run partnership.
Hurraira was dismissed by Shadab after scoring 39 from 30 balls. Wicketkeeper Muhammad Akhlaq (16) was the second batsman to depart, with Usama Mir claiming his wicket.
Farhan couldn't extend his innings and returned to the pavilion after passing fifty. He scored 52 off 69 balls, with the help of a six and a four.
Meanwhile, Hasnain bowled an impressive spell that dismantled the Dolphins' chase. He dismissed captain Saud Shakeel (24) and Asif Ali (10) in quick succession.
He returned in his final spell to remove Qasim Akram, who had formed a 78-run partnership with Faheem Ashraf for the seventh wicket.
Qasim scored 65 off 62 balls, and Hasnain then removed Faheem, who contributed 41 from 35 balls.
In his ninth over, Hasnain dismissed Abbas Afridi (6) to complete his five-wicket haul. He finished with figures of 5/74.
Mubasir Khan removed Noman Ali and Usman Qadir to bowl Dolphins out for 278.
Earlier, Usman Khan registered his maiden List A century, while Haider Ali and captain Shadab scored fifties as the Panthers set a target of 329.
Usman took charge after both openers were dismissed early. Saim Ayub (6) and Abdul Bangalzai (5) were sent back within five overs by Mir Hamza.
Usman then partnered with Umar Siddiq to provide some stability to the innings. Siddiq scored 30 off 39 balls before being run out by Asif Ali.
Mubasir Khan (5) was removed by Faheem Ashraf as the Panthers looked to stage a comeback.
Usman and Haider took responsibility, building a 103-run partnership. Haider played a blistering knock of 63 from 46 balls, hitting five fours and three sixes.
Meanwhile, Usman reached his century from 97 balls.
Towards the end, skipper Shadab smashed a 45-ball 65, while Usama Mir contributed 22 from 13 balls. The Panthers were bowled out for 328 in 49.4 overs.
Usman Qadir was the standout bowler for the Dolphins, claiming three wickets, while Hamza and Abbas Afridi took two apiece.
