Australian pacer Sean Abbott has signed up for the eagerly awaited Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 player draft, which is set to take place on January 11, 2025.
The announcement was made on social media handles with a photo of Sean Abbott and the caption: "Big moves incoming! Aussie all-rounder Sean Abbott throws his hat in the ring for the HBL PSL Draft!"
The 32-year-old pacer brings a wealth of experience to the table, having represented Australia in 20 T20I matches and claimed 26 wickets.
Abbott has proven his mettle in various franchise leagues, including the Big Bash League (BBL), The Hundred Men's competition, Vitality Blast, and the Indian Premier League (IPL).
With 168 wickets in 120 BBL matches, Abbott continues to shine in the ongoing 2024-25 edition with the Sydney Sixers.
Notably, Abbott is the 15th foreign player to have signed up for the upcoming 10th edition of the marquee league, joining Alex Carey and Usman Khawaja, South Africa's Corbin Bosh and Rilee Rossouw, New Zealand's Colin Munro and Daryl Mitchell, England's Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Tom Curran, David Willey, Dawid Malan and Jason Roy, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza.
It is pertinent to mention that the highly-anticipated player draft will be held in Balochistan for the first time, with Gwadar hosting the key event on January 11, 2025.
The pick order for the player draft has also been announced, with two-time champions Lahore Qalandars making the first pick in the opening round of the platinum category, followed by arch-rivals Karachi Kings.
2019 champions Quetta Gladiators will make the third pick, while Peshawar Zalmi will have the fourth.
Last season’s runners-up, Sultans, and reigning champions United will make the fifth and sixth picks, respectively.
