Real Madrid fan and football writer Om Arvind passed away on Saturday days after he went missing in Washington D.C., United States, confirmed his family on Sunday.
Arvind, born in 1999, was a writer, podcaster and analyst. He used to work for football site Managing Madrid. As per the Fairfax County Police, the 25-year-old was last seen leaving the 7200 block of Centreville Road in Manassas.
The police continued his search for days but they couldn’t trace him. On May 18, he was declared dead but no foul play was suspected.
“Sadly, Om was found deceased today. Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family. Preliminarily, no foul play is suspected. Detectives continue to investigate. Thank you for sharing,” Fairfax County Police wrote on their X, formerly Twitter, account.
Arvind’s colleague, Kiyan Sobhani, who works as Chief Editor and writes columns on Real Madrid at Managing Madrid, expressed grief at the passing of his friend and recalled some of his moments with the 25-year-old.
“Deeply saddened that Om Arvind has passed away. We lost a brother who cannot be replaced. Om and I were brought together because of our mutual love of Real Madrid but it quickly turned out that our connection went beyond that. A fantastic man with a big heart who always went out of his way to help others. I will miss you, brother. My heart is with the Arvind family,” he posted on X.
As of now, there have been no reports as to what happened to him or where he was days before passing away. The police said that they are continuing the investigation and may reveal the information in the coming days.
