Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by eight wickets in the 34th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Ekana Sports City, Lucknow, on Friday.

KL Raul’s side registered their fourth win in the tournament as the skipper led his team from the front. He scored 82 runs on 53 balls with the help of nine fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 154.72.

Meanwhile, CSK’s legend MS Dhoni’s breathtaking cameo in the first innings went in vain. The 42-year-old scored 28 runs on just 9 deliveries with three fours and two sixes and also hit a massive 101m six in the process.

The win saw LSG remaining in fifth position with eight points, as many as CSK, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders. While Rajasthan Royals continue to sit at the summit with 12 points from seven matches.

It must be noted that Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are the joint-most successful teams in the history of IPL as both sides have won the tournament five times each.

Other than these two, KKR won it twice, while Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals and Deccan Chargers managed to lift the title once each.

Despite having legendary shorter-format figures like Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, AB de Villiers, Jacques Kallis and others, Royal Challengers Bangalore never managed to win the title despite playing the final thrice in 2009, 2011 and 2016.
