Four Real Madrid players are on the radar of the Saudi Pro League as the Los Blancos are still in doubt over the renewal of those players, reported Spanish media on Wednesday.
Luka Modric, Lucas Vazquez, Nacho Fernandez and Ferland Mendy are those likely to be targeted by the Gulf country once the current season ends.
Modric, Vazquez and Nacho are running out of contract and Los Blancos have decided against the extension of two of them, which has ultimately open the door for the Saudi league to make their move.
The Athletic reported on Tuesday that Los Blancos have no intentions of renewing Modric’s contract. While he is rated highly and everyone inside the club speaks greatly of the Croatian, it is believed that his time with the team has come to an end.
On the other hand, Nacho is running out of favour with head coach Carlo Ancelotti as he is now behind Aurelien Tchouameni in the pecking order. The Spaniard is aware that he may not be given many opportunities to play next season and may avail the option to go to Saudi, where he would not just be an immediate starter but will also earn a huge chunk of money.
Another player is Lucas Vazquez, whose current deal ends in June 2024. However, due to his recent performances, the club has decided to extend his contract. However, it remains unclear whether he would accept the deal or not as the Spaniard is aiming for more games which will not be possible as Madrid’s starting right-back in Dani Carvajal.
The last player is Ferland Mendy, who still has one more year left on his contract but may be forced to leave at the end of the season. Real Madrid is trying to buy Bayern Munich’s left-back Alphonso Davies and if the Canadian completes his move to the Spanish capital, Mendy will ultimately leave, stated MARCA.
The Frenchman is the only player the Saudi teams would have to negotiate for. Madrid will definitely opt to sell the left-back for some money rather than losing him for free next season.
It will be interesting to see how things unfold at the Spanish capital in the summer as there won’t just be departures, players like Kylian Mbappe and Davies are also expected to join the Whites.
