Manchester United have shown interest in Brazilian defender, Gleison Bremer, who is currently playing for Italian club Juventus, an Italian news outlet reported.
Bremer plays a centre-back for the Old Lady and the Red Devils are ready to offer as much as €60 to acquire the Brazilian’s services for the upcoming season.
Man Utd are eager to sign a quality defender this season as Johnny Evans is ageing while Harry Maguire has been linked with a move and this could leave the Premier League giants with limited options at the back.
It is to be seen whether Juventus would be willing to let go of one of their key players for the reported fee or not but United’s interest in the player remains.
Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane along with Victor Lindelof are the only reliable defenders at the club but the Argentine and the Frenchman have a history of struggling with injuries which is why United’s interest in Bremer is growing.
United have conceded 39 goals in 27 matches this season and their struggles at the back are not coming to an end and the signing of Bremer would, to an extent, fix their defensive issues.
Earlier, Man United suffered a 3-1 loss to city rivals Manchester City after which the difference between two points was increased to 18 points.
Marcus Rashford's eighth-minute goal gave United the advantage but two goals from Phil Foden and a late strike from Erling Haaland bagged the win for Pep Guardiola's side, who are a point behind Premier League table-toppers Liverpool.
For the 11th consecutive season, United are set to finish below City but Ten Hag told reporters that the gap isn’t too big.
"No, I don't think so, absolutely not. We have many problems now in injuries and still, we had an opportunity. By a very small margin. We could have scored the second goal. You see it (the gap) is not that big,” Ten Hag said.
"When we have everyone on board we can be really competitive and also we showed, for instance, in the FA Cup final against them when it can be really close. But don't forget this, City is, at the moment, the best team in the world."
