Pakistan’s wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan's knocks of 88 and 28 against Australia during the recently-concluded Sydney Test helped him secure a 10-spot jump to 17th on the ICC Men’s Test batters rankings after the latest update today.
Rizwan finished as Pakistan's highest run-scorer, 193, despite playing only two out of three matches in the series. Sarfaraz Ahmed played the first Test with Rizwan on the bench.
Meanwhile, Marnus Labuschagne jumped three spots to fourth (802) after scores of 60 and 62 not out.
South Africa’s Aiden Markram, who scored a brilliant second innings century in the Newlands Test against India, rose nine spots to enter the top 20 (667).
As far as Indian batters are concerned, Virat Kohli (775) and Rohit Sharma (748) moved to sixth and 10th, respectively.
In the bowling rankings, India’s Jasprit Bumrah went past Ravindra Jadeja to move to fourth (787). Mohammed Siraj's 6/15 and 1/31 helped him jump 13 places to a career-high 17th (661), while Lungi Ngidi (up nine spots to 28th) benefitted from his three-wicket haul in the first innings.
Despite claiming four wickets against India, pacer Kagiso Rabada was overtaken by Australia’s Pat Cummins to move to second on the rankings list (858). Australia's captain, who was named Player of the Series against Pakistan, bagged six wickets.
Cummins' teammate Josh Hazlewood clinched five wickets to rise from 11th to a tie for seventh (761) with England’s James Anderson. The shift pushed Nathan Lyon down to 11th (742), nine points ahead of Pakistan's Shaheen Afridi, who was rested for the Sydney Test.
