Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has been handed a one-match ban following his antics during his side's 1-0 win over Luton Town at Old Trafford on Saturday (November 11).

The Red Devils returned to the winning ways and recorded their consecutive win in the Premier League (PL) as they jumped to sixth position in the points table with 21 points.

However, their 1-0 win against the newly-promoted side came at a cost as Ten Hag was shown a yellow card and will not be allowed to coach his team during United's next match which will be against Everton on November 26 after the international break.

Ten Hag was shown a yellow card after he complained about the award of a throw-in and the PL rule, which was introduced in 2019, states that three yellow cards for a manager would lead to a one-match suspension, eight yellow cards to two matches and 12 yellow cards to three-match.

However, if a manager reaches 16 yellow cards, he will be given a misconduct charge.

Ten Hag discussed the booking after the match and said that his coaching staff is capable of leading the team in his absence.

"Yes, that's the way [it is], So I have to accept that. It’s not nice but I’m sure we’ll prepare for Everton and my coaching staff will take over, they are very competent to do the job," Ten Hag said.

"So that was about a moment so clear, it was a throw-in," elaborated Ten Hag at his post-match press conference. "But it was the second time. I was on top of it and it was so clear and obvious [it was] our ball. It was my remark, therefore, I got booked."

It is worth mentioning that United is having a woeful season. They are on the verge of being eliminated from the UEFA Champions League with just one win in four games. If they finish last on the group stage, they would be out of the competition but should they finish third, they would be downgraded to the UEFA Europa League.
