Riyad Mahrez has left Manchester City to complete his move to Al-Ahli, the Saudi club announced on Friday.

Mahrez, 32, who joined the Club in 2018, played 236 games for them where he scored 78 goals and provided 59 assists.

“To play for Manchester City has been an honour and privilege,” said Mahrez as quoted by Man City's official website. “I came to City to win trophies and enjoy my football and I achieved all that and so much more.

“I have had five unforgettable years with this football club, working with unbelievable players, fantastic supporters, and the best manager in the world.

“I’ve made a lifetime of wonderful memories and the manner of our Premier League title wins and the battles we’ve had with Liverpool and, last year, Arsenal, underlined our collective desire and mentality to be the best.

“Manchester City will forever be a huge and happy part of my life.”

Mahrez was one of the key players of Man City, who was highly rated by the head coach Pep Guardiola. He won 11 trophies during his five-year spell and left the club as a treble winner.

The 32-year-old footballer won four Premier League (PL) titles, two FA Cups, two League cups, two Community Shields and a UEFA Champions League (UCL) title with the Manchester club.

Mahrez is known for his astonishing playing style that is full of skills and tricks. However, one thing that distinguishes the Algerian star is his sublime first touch.

In all of his five seasons, Mahrez hit double figures in goals, although his 24 in the 2021-22 season was his career high.

Last season, he scored 15 goals in 47 matches and contributed highly to the FA Cup triumph as he scored a stunning hat-trick in the semi-final against Sheffield United at Wembley in April, becoming the first Man City played to score a hat-trick at that stadium.

He was also voted Etihad Player of the Month award seven times.

Even though his career with the UCL champions is full of tales, but Mahrez emerged as a world-class player during his time with Leicester City.

He guided Leicester to a PL victory with his attacking partner Jamie Vardy, winning the PL ahead of teams like Manchester United, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Many teams wanted his signature after some legendary years with the club but the forward decided to stay in the PL and joined Man City.
