Canadian tennis star Felix Auger-Aliassime has warned the two-time Grand Slam winner Carlos Alcaraz that he will not let him win everything, reported Le Journal de Montreal.
Alcaraz’s latest Wimbledon triumph has awakened the 22-year-old’s competitive side.
The Canadian is having his fair share of struggles with injuries as he is currently going through a knee injury and also talked about the progress with his injury.
“Things are much better.” He said. “I went to Wimbledon thinking it was going to hold up and I’d be okay. Unfortunately, I felt pain towards the middle of the match. I did what I had to do to heal myself. Right now, my knee is fine. I’m back on the field and I’m ready to fight with the best.
“When everything is OK physically, I am convinced that I can attack the next tournaments with the same ambitions that I have always had. My standards are not lower.”
The Canadian tennis star could not hide his competitive side saying that he will not the Spaniard win every title.
“It awakens my competitive side. I also allow myself to speak for the other players [on the circuit]. We don’t want to let him win every tournament. It motivates me to do the right things.”
Auger-Aliassime's best ever season was in 2022 when he won his first four ATP career titles and flew up to his career-high ranking of no. 6.
Despite Alcaraz achieving more in his career, he doesn’t have a great record against the Canadian as the latter won three out of four times.
