The wicketkeeper batter is most likely to play first Test against Sri Lanka

Pakistan's former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed thanked net bowlers for coming on the last day of national training camp and being the helping hand in extremely hot weather.

Sarfaraz, after posing for a picture with net bowlers post training session, told reporters that these cricketers helped them a lot.

"On behalf of the whole Pakistan team, I would like to thank these kids who have come here before us in the morning despite extremely hot weather," the Champions Trophy 2017-winning captain appreciated.

"I am sure the training we did with them will help us in Sri Lanka," he added.

Sarfaraz, who scored a century to save Pakistan's last Test against New Zealand, is most likely to play first Test of two-match series in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, while speaking to media in Karachi on Thursday, confirmed that Sarfaraz will be the first choice wicketkeeper for the upcoming Test assignment.

"Sarfaraz will be obviously the first choice in Sri Lanka, but we will see there how conditions and situation would be there," he said.

The first Test of the series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium on July 16 and the two teams will then travel to Colombo for the second Test at the Singhalese Sports Club from July 24 till 28.

Pakistan last toured Sri Lanka July 2022 and that two-match Test series ended in a 1-1 draw. Pakistan scaled the target of 342 to register the best run chase at the cricket ground and win the first Test by four wickets. However, the hosts bounced back in the second Test to level the series with a 246-run win.
