Pakistan’s football club Karachi United’s player Affan Siddiqui has secured a trial at Aldershot Town Football Club (ATFC) in England, the club announced on Wednesday.
“Karachi United is delighted to announce that our Men's Pro Team player, Affan Siddiqui, has secured a trial at Aldershot Town Football Club in England. This is excellent news for all involved including Pakistan Football,” the club stated in a tweet.
“We would like to thank Aldershot Town Football Club for the opportunity and hope to build on this relationship in order to develop talent for Pakistan.”
The ATFC chairman Shahid Azeem also said that they have been working with Karachi United for a long time and are excited to see how well Affan does at this level.
"We have known and been working with Karachi United for some time now. They have an excellent Academy and Community program in Karachi and it would be great to see how Affan fares at this level," said Azeem.
Aldershot Town Football Club is a professional football club which competes in the National League, the fifth tier of the English football league system.
Affan playing for an English club, should he pass the trial, would be huge for Pakistan — a country that is not even in the top 200 in FIFA rankings — as it may, in future, open the gates for many talented footballers in the country who are just looking for an opportunity
