The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to upgrade the ICC Cricket World Cup venues, it emerged on Friday.
In line with the requirements, the BCCI will be upgrading the stadiums by manufacturing imported grass, new outfields and improved floodlights in different stadiums.
Each of the Cricket World Cup venues is to be granted Rs500 million from the BCCI to upgrade its infrastructure as reported by Indian media.
New floodlights will be installed in Mumbai while the corporate boxes will also be upgraded.
Upgraded dressing room in Kolkata; Imported grass for the new outfield in Dharamsala; a new makeshift roof in Pune; an upgraded ticketing system and improved toilets in Delhi and new pitches in Lucknow.
The World Cup games will be hosted in Ahmedabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Dharamsala, Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Kolkata. Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram stage warm-up games.
“We relaid the whole surface of the stadium and we did a makeover of VVIP and hospitality boxes too. We hired the best expert for the relaying process. We wanted to ensure we have good drainage facilities and got grass from abroad,” Arun Dhumal, an HPCA member told The Indian Express.
“We changed a few seats, and painted the stands. There was a leakage problem, we fixed that too. We wanted to ensure that after rain, the game should start as soon as possible.”

October 31 - vs Bangladesh in Kolkata
November 4 - vs New Zealand Bengaluru (Day match)
November 12 - vs England in Kolkata
The day match will start at 10:00 am Pakistan Standard Time (PST) while all other matches will be day-night fixtures starting at 01:30 pm (PST).
