Pakistan's leg-spinner Usama Mir returned to Worcestershire for LV=Insurance County Championship Match against Sussex at Hove, starting on Sunday.

Mir, who represented the county for three matches in the ongoing T20 Vitality Blast, will be wearing white for the club in the championship contest.

Mir played in place of Mitchell Santner who was busy playing in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL). He took five wickets in three matches for Worcestershire.

Mir is excited to be returning to the club for the championship match. "It was my dream to play county cricket, and I achieved that in the Blast. I enjoyed my time at Worcestershire and was happy to contribute with bat and ball," he said.

“It was a shame the spell was so short, and to have the opportunity to come back and play a Championship game is exciting, and I look forward to a different sort of challenge to T20 cricket," he added.

Mir, who was looking forward to going to England for playing cricket, got a call from Pakistan team for ODIs. He made his ODI debut against New Zealand in Karachi this year. He had replaced injured Shadab Khan in the three-match series.

So far, Usama has played six ODIs, all against New Zealand. He bagged 10 wickets and bowled at an impressive economy of 5.29. After performing in ODIs, his name is also coming under consideration for the ICC World Cup in India, scheduled in October-November this year in India.
