Pakistan's former Test cricketers Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik are most likely to feature in the upcoming third edition of the Global T20 (GT20) Canada.
After a gap of three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, GT20 Canada is returning to engage cricket fans from across the world. The third season of the league will be held from July 10 to August 6.
Pakistani stars Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik will be seen in action during the tournament.
The first two editions of the GT20 in 2018 and 2019 saw some of the most renowned names from around the world, including the likes of Chris Gayle, Yuvraj Singh, Lasith Malinga, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Afridi, Malik, David Warner, Steve Smith, Brendon McCullum and Thisara Perera, as players and the likes of Wasim Akram, Brian Lara and Mahela Jayawardene as mentors.
Afridi represented Edmonton Royals in the inaugural edition of the league. Whereas, Malik played for Vancouver Knights who won the first edition.
This year, the same six teams will participate in the tournament. Each team will comprise a total of 16 players from full and associate nations, including two world-renowned marquee players, three Canadian national team players and three emerging Canadian cricketers, who will play 25 matches over 18 days.
