English champions Manchester City's head coach Pep Guardiola has been nominated for the Premier League (PL) Manager of the Month (MOTM) award for April 2023, along with Unai Emery, Roy Hodgson, Eddie Howe and Gary O'Neil.
Pep has won the PL MOTM award a record 11 times, more than the likes of Jose Mourinho, Rafael Benitez, David Moyes, Claudio Ranieri and other top coaches in the PL history.
Pep is the only manager in history of PL to win the MOTM award for four consecutive months. He achieved this feat during the 2017/18 season where he won the award from September 2017 to December 2017.
On the other hand, Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp is the first manager to win the award five times in a single season.
Former Manchester United manager and 13-time Premier League winner Sir Alex Ferguson (SAF) holds the record for the most MOTM awards with 27 against his name.
Right after him, is Arsenal's former manager, also known as "The Invincible" Arsene Wenger with 15 MOTM awards.
Manchester City continued their superb form in the month of April as they won five out of five PL matches including a crucial 4-1 victory over Mikel Arteta's Arsenal to go to the top of the league. They scored 17 goals in five matches and conceded only five.
It must be noted that City are first in the league with 79 points, one ahead of Arsenal, with a game in hand. They are also in the FA Cup final where they will face city-rivals Manchester United on June 2, 2023 at Wembley Stadium.
City will also play Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid in a UEFA Champions League (UCL) semi-final on Tuesday, May 9 at Santiago Bernabeu.
The two clubs met last season during the UEFA Champions League semi-final where Real Madrid won the tie after a late comeback, something that they are known for. Rodrygo Goes scored two goals within two minutes to take the game into extra-time, where Karim Benzema scored the winner during the fifth minute.
