Mohammad Rizwan changed the fortunes of Multan Sultans since taking up their captaincy in Pakistan Super League (PSL) back in 2021.

In 2021, Rizwan replaced Shan Masood as Sultans' new captain. The same year he led them to their maiden PSL title after defeating Peshawar Zalmi in the final.

Rizwan and Sultans didn't look back from then and remained the most consistent team in PSL thereafter. They also played in the PSL final last year which was won by Lahore Qalandars.

This year again, Rizwan led his team to the final of Pakistan's mega cricket event. On Wednesday, they beat Qalandars by 84 runs in the qualifier to make it into the PSL final for the third consecutive year.

For his outstanding captaincy during these three years, fans lauded him on social media.

Rizwan sets another record

Rizwan completed his 500 runs in this year's PSL season 8. During the PSL 8 qualifier against Qalandars on Wednesday, Rizwan scored 33 off 29 including three boundaries. Meanwhile, he brought up his 500 runs this season.

Rizwan, who rose to fame in T20Is after being promoted as an opener in the national team back in 2020, set another record in PSL. He has become the only batter in the history of PSL to score 500+ runs in three editions.

After scoring 500 runs in PSL season 6 and 546 runs last year, Rizwan has so far scored 516 runs this season. The right-handed batter has also scored his maiden PSL century this season. He is also currently the highest run-scorer in the ongoing edition of the tournament.
