Paris Saint-Germain's star player Lionel Messi will miss his side's Ligue 1 clash with AS Monaco due to an injury.

Messi sustained a hamstring injury during PSG's Coupe de France 2-1 loss against Marseille in midweek. The loss eliminated the side from the event.

However, it doesn't mean that the Argentina star only miss the game against Monaco as he could also potentially miss the crunch UCL round of 16 clash with Bayern Munich at the Parc des Princes on February 15.

Messi managed to play despite the injury in Marseille's match on Wednesday, but the following day, the symptoms got worse, and he was forced to withdraw from the trip to Monaco.

The situation got even worse as he could miss Tuesday's meeting against Bayern Munich.

This season in Ligue 1, the World Cup champion from Argentina has 10 goals and 10 assists.

In addition to Kylian Mbappé's absence from the match against the Bavarians due to a thigh ailment, Neymar has missed Paris Saint Germain's last two league games due to an ankle injury he sustained while playing for Brazil at the FIFA World Cup.

This puts manager Christophe Galtier in a tough spot as he has been unable to ignite his team since the FIFA World Cup.

Achraf Hakimi has recovered from a hamstring issue and will be ready, according to Galtier.
