Pakistan batter Iftikhar Ahmed, along with Fortune Barishal skipper Shakib Al Hasan, made history during their side's clash with Rangpur Riders at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Thursday.
Iftikhar came in to bat with Barishal reeling at 46-4, but the Pakistan batter rose to the occasion and stitched a massive 192-run partnership with skipper Shakib for the fifth wicket to help his side post a mammoth 238 runs on the scoreboard.
With the partnership, the two made history as it became the highest fifth-wicket partnership in T20 history.
Earlier, Adam Hose and Dan Mousley held the record for the highest fifth-wicket partnership with 171 runs.
Iftikhar was sensational for his side as he smashed a blistering 100 runs off just 45 balls, laced up with six fours and nine maximums.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh batter scored 89 runs off 43 balls, including nine fours and six maximums.
It is worth mentioning here that it was Iftikhar's maiden T20 hundred.
Iftikhar is the third batter to score a century in this edition of the BPL. The other two centurions — Azam Khan and Usman Khan — are also from Pakistan.
