LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday, has started evaluating the performance of five Champions Cup mentors.

According to the details, a high-profile meeting, led by PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, was held here, which was also attended by top officials of the cricket board.

The agenda of the meeting was to review the performances of the Champions Cup mentors – Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik, Misbah-ul-Haq, Saqlain Mushtaq and Waqar Younis – thus far and aimed to rank the mentors based on their performance.

According to the sources, the option to replace underperforming mentors could also be exercised and can be replaced by new mentors.

As a result, former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, who mentors Champions Cup’s side Dolphins, may lose the position, owing to his team’s below-par performances in both the ODI and T20I format of the tournament.

In the recently-concluded Champions T20 Cup, Sarfaraz-mentored Dolphins lost all of their eight league-stage matches and finished at the bottom of the standings.

The side delivered an equally dismal performance in the Champions One-Day Cup, where they managed to win only one match and finished at the bottom of the points table with 11 points in four matches.
