LAHORE: The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi stopped the announcement of the Men in Green's T20 World Cup squad after expressing displeasure over the process of selection.
According to sources, Naqvi is unhappy over the fact that proper meetings weren’t held before finalising Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad. However, he didn't raise any objections over the players selected in the squad.
Naqvi has also written a letter to the selection committee members in a bid to seek clarification over the matter.
Sources also revealed that minutes of the meetings held by the selection committee were not shared with Naqvi which left the PCB Chairman unhappy.
The squad won’t be announced until the selection committee completes the entire process.
Sources added that the required process will be completed within the next three hours, after which the squad will be announced.
The deadline for squad announcement is May 25 and any changes after that will require approval from the ICC’s Event Technical Committee.
Pakistan are in Group A of the event, alongside India, Ireland, Canada and USA.
