Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam opened up after his side lost to Multan Sultans in the Qualifier of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine on Thursday in Karachi.
Speaking after the match, Azam said that his side were around 20 runs short of the par score while batting first.
"We got a good start but lost wickets in the middle overs. I thought 160-170 was a par score but we couldn't finish well,” Azam said after the match.
However, Azam also said that if he had stayed on the pitch till the end of the innings things would have been different.
“They bowled well so I tried to build the innings but I got out early. If I stayed there, maybe it would have been a different ball game,” he added.
It must be noted that Multan Sultans defeated Peshawar Zalmi convincingly by seven wickets to qualify for the PSL 2024 final on Thursday.
Mohammad Rizwan's side have secured spot in the PSL final for the fourth time in a row.
Azam's Zalmi will have another chance on March 16 against either Islamabad United or Quetta Gladiators, who will feature in the eliminator today, to qualify for the final.
