Barcelona booked their spot in the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in four years after a thrilling 3-1 home victory against Napoli on Tuesday.
Barcelona advanced after their win in the second leg gave them a 4-2 aggregate victory.
According to Opta, Barcelona attempted 24 shots in this match against Napoli, their most in a Champions League knockout game since February 2019 against Lyon under Ernesto Valverde (25).
In a unique feat, Barcelona also became the first team in Champions League history to start two players aged 17 or under in a knockout stage game. Lamine Yamal (16 years and 243 days) and Pau Cubarsí (17 years and 50) were in the starting XI.
Early goals by Fermin Lopez and Joao Cancelo kept Barcelona in the driving seat but Amir Rrahmani reduced the deficit before half-time. However, Robert Lewandowski sealed the deal for the hosts with a late third.
Napoli, who have not been able to beat Barca in their previous five encounters, suffered a similar a fate similar to the 2020 Champions League meeting with a 3-1 home victory for the Spanish side after a 1-1 draw in Naples.
That was the last time the Catalans had registered a victory in the knockout round of the UCL and their most recent progression to the last eight.
"Very happy, Barcelona are in the top eight in Europe. It was a well-deserved qualification, a game dominated in attack and defence but also an excellent game by Napoli," Barca coach Xavi Hernandez told Mediaset.
"Happy with the qualification and we'll see how the draw goes. Proud to be back in the quarter-finals after years."
Napoli manager Francesco Calzona was disappointed after the loss.
"There is disappointment, because we came here to try to win and we didn't succeed," Calzona said.
"We got off to a very bad start, if you concede so much to this team in the long run you lose it."
