Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has spoken for players over unpaid dues by two T20 cricket leagues, Global T20 Canada (GT20) and Legend League Cricket T20 (LLCT20).

In a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), Boom Boom Afridi stressed that he didn't intend to reveal this but is coming out on behalf of his playing members.

The 46-year-old stressed that it is important for the organising team to pay players on time.

"I didn’t want to do this, but need to for the sake of my peers and the sport I love so dearly. It is tantamount and extremely integral for the organising members of any event to keep their word in every situation," Afridi wrote.

"GT20 and LLCT20 owe payments to many of their players and have been non responsive to the requests," Afridi added while urging the International Cricket Council (ICC) to look into the matter as it requires your urgent attention.

It must be noted that GT20 is Canada's franchise league while LLCT20 features retired players and is backed by Indian owners who also have teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Afridi played LLCT20 for Asian Lions earlier this year in Doha, Qatar while he played for Toronto Nationals in GT20.

The 2023 Global T20 Canada took place from July 20 to August 6 at the Brampton Sports Park by CAA Centre.

Top Pakistan stars like Mohammad Rizwan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Haris, Azam Khan and others took part in it.
